Keep Calm and Walk On
This week with rooh, experiences & experts for a healthy, happy you.

This week, we share a new well-being experience that has shaped our perspective. We hope to inspire you and help you to see firsthand how a single idea can transform your understanding of yourself and how you view the world.
First, a little something to…
Drive action: When disaster strikes, it’s easy to feel powerless—but small acts of kindness can create ripples of hope. As wildfires devastate parts of Los Angeles, communities are coming together to rebuild, support, and stand strong for one another.
Whether it’s lending a hand, sharing resources, or simply showing compassion, your actions make a difference. Inspired to help? Join the effort by supporting the California Community Fund and be a part of the recovery.

FEATURED WELL-BEING TREND

Relentless focus and a disciplined mindset are the answers to almost any challenge
A Rooh Perspective: A few weeks ago, my closest friend revealed his plan for Saturday: a 12-hour solo walk. No distractions – no phone, no music, no books, absolutely no media. Just him, his thoughts, and a bottle of water. I initially reacted with disbelief. Given his busy work schedule, the idea of spending his only day off on a 12-hour walk in a city we barely knew seemed, well, insane. However, he was determined, prompting me to investigate this odd idea. I read that the 12-hour walk was conceived by Colin O'Brady, the first person to cross Antarctica solo.
Concept: Download the 12-hour walk app, pack a water bottle and some snacks, put your phone on AirPlane mode, and step out of your front door.
Objective: Walking for 12 hours with minimal human interaction and engaging exclusively with one's thoughts and surroundings.
Beyond the physical exertion, the 12-hour walk offers profound mental and emotional benefits. By disconnecting from the constant stimulation of everyday life, you can experience a more profound sense of peace and tranquility. This extended period of solitude allows for introspection, creativity, and a renewed connection with yourself.
While the idea of a 12-hour solo walk might seem extreme to some, it's clear that it holds immense potential to cultivate a greater appreciation for your surroundings. So, the next time you have a day off, consider packing the essentials and immerse yourself in the world around you.
For our NYC subscribers, here are my favorite routes to follow for your 12-hour walk:
Start in the Financial District
Begin at Battery Park, where you can see the Statue of Liberty from afar
Walk through Wall Street and the World Trade Center
Head up through Tribeca and appreciate the architecture
Start in Lower Manhattan and walk the West Side through Chelsea & Midtown
Walk the High Line avoiding the crowds at Chelsea market
Stroll through Herald Square and Times Square
For a quieter route, start in Astoria
Begin at Astoria Park where you can see views of the East River and Hell Gate Bridge
Walk through all the residential streets and appreciate the different cultural influences
Explore the peaceful Socrates Sculpture park and Isamu Noguchi Museum
We would love to hear your thoughts on the 12 Hour walk here!
![]() | Last week, we shared an experience in which Jillian Turecki talked with Matthew Hussey about improving our relationships with ourselves and others this year. This experience was based on Jillian's new book, It Begins With You. We've just started reading this book, and we love how Jillian emphasizes how you are the common denominator in all of your relationships. She breaks down enormous patterns in how we form and maintain relationships and helps us break those patterns through action-oriented steps we can take immediately. This book is a must-read for the beginning of the year to start significantly changing our thinking about relationships. |
