Feeling overwhelmed? Resources inside.

a moment to pause, acknowledge these feelings, and reconnect with what you need

This week, we’re focusing on something that many of us experience regularly – the feeling of overwhelm that comes with life’s endless demands and the uncertainty of the future.

When things feel unsettled, it’s easy to feel pulled in too many directions. Instead of just pushing through, what if you took a moment to pause, acknowledge these feelings, and reconnect with what you need?

Let’s explore small ways to take care of ourselves in times of overwhelm, reminding ourselves that even amidst the unknown, we can find strength and clarity one step at a time.

First, a little something to…

  1. Ground yourself: Take a few minutes to center yourself by focusing on your breath and tuning into your senses. Try the 5-4-3-2-1 method: notice five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste. It’s a quick way to get grounded when your mind feels scattered.

  2. Help you focus: Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed because everything seems urgent. Create a quick checklist that helps you identify your top three priorities for the day. This can bring a sense of focus and relief by organizing your to-dos and letting go of what isn’t essential right now.

  3. Ease anxious thoughts: Schedule a “worry time” for 10 minutes each day. When anxious thoughts arise, remind yourself you have time later to address them. This small boundary can help you feel more in control and keep overwhelming thoughts from taking over. Here are 4 simple steps for your worry time.

Trust that this hardship will pass. Trust that someday you will look back at this moment with a new understanding. Trust that you will find a way to move forward. Trust that this will one day be a memory. Trust that you are loved.

a note from us
to you

In the spirit of overwhelm and uncertainty, we’re going to do something a little different today. We’re going to write a letter to the feeling we’re feeling – and we invite you to do the same. Choose overwhelm, uncertainty, heartbreak, or any emotion that’s weighing on you & see what comes up when you put it into words.

Dear Overwhelm,

You arrive unannounced, filling every corner of my mind, making it hard to see anything clearly. I feel the weight you bring, the rush of everything all at once, and the way you make even small things feel big.

But today, I’m choosing to listen to what you have to say. You remind me of my limits, of the importance of rest and the power of slowing down. Thank you for showing me what needs my attention and what I can let go of. With you, I’m learning that I don’t have to hold everything at once.

With gratitude,
rooh
